Bootlegging

Wiki article

One of the defining phenomenon of the Prohibition Era was the production and trafficking of illegal alcohol. Players are able to do the same here in Chicago Rum with Bootlegging.

Alcohol

Currently, there are 6 different types of alcohol which can be transported and sold in-game. They are Moonshine, Beer, Gin, Whiskey, Rum, and Bourbon. Each of these types have a unique price in each city.

The most up to date prices for the player's current location are found in the Bootlegging Main Page.

Prices reset every week on Monday in-game time. Players are able to hold alcohol despite price changes, but their inventory will always reflect current market prices.

It is advantageous to shop around and buy in cities with the lowest price and sell in a city with a higher price, or gamble that next week's prices will increase.

Transportation

Trafficking alcohol is highly illegal and may attract unwanted police attention. When a player has alcohol in their inventory, it will automatically be transported with them via car or train. However, there's a chance they'll be stopped by the police. If this happens, either half or all of the player's alcohol will be seized and they'll be sent to prison.

Capacity

Starting fresh, players begin with the ability to hold 50 units of liquor in their inventory at a time, across all cities.

The ability to purchase capacity upgrades can be earned by completing simple challenges listed on the Capacity Page. Upgrades can be purchased using cash after the respective challenge is complete.

Production

Bootlegging production is a new way for players to immerse themselves in the Prohibition Era by unlocking the ability to manufacture their own moonshine.

By navigating to the Production Page, players can begin the process by starting the 'Still in Business' mission, where two objectives must be completed to obtain two parts to create the still.

Once the mission is completed, a still can be setup in a city of the player's choice.

Once the still is established, player's are able to begin production or manage their still in the city in which it is located.

Production can take quite a long time at up to 12 hours.

Production Issues

From time to time, players will run into certain production issues with their still. Examples of these include parts breaking causing maintenance to be required, police raids, or accidents. When issues come up, still production will be stopped. Players may also need to pay a sum of money to restart production, depending on the issue.

Still upgrades may reduce the frequency or severity of issues.

Progression & Still Upgrades

Players are able to level up their stills by successfully producing moonshine. Higher still levels will allow players to gain access to larger stills which are more efficient and produce more moonshine at a time.

When players level up their stills, they'll also gain access to still upgrades which decrease maintenance frequency, increase the price consumers are willing to pay for moonshine, and even increase the production rate for their still.

Once the appropriate still level has been reached, upgrades can be purchased with cash in the Still Upgrades Page.
