How the game is played: the mechanics, the features and the rules.
Kill
Wiki articleChicago Rum allows players to step even deeper into the shoes of a 1930s mobster by allowing them to make their enemies sleep with the fishes.
The Basics
Kill is an important and fundamental feature in Chicago Rum. It allows players to get rid of their enemies, sending them back to square one.
If a player is killed, all of their progress is essentially reset, aside from their bank account, of which 60% will be inherited.
To attempt a kill, a large sum of money or gold, along with bullets will be needed.
Its also prudent to have a decent weapon and protection.
Starting a Search
Once the player acquires a good portion of the resources required, they can start a Search in the Kill Page.
This starts the process of finding their target. A private investigator must be hired for an expensive fee of either cash or gold. 4 different options are available with varying skilled Private Investigators. The most skilled will be the most expensive and they'll find your target in a considerably shorter period of time.
Occasionally, a player will notice they're being followed and the search will be called off. No refund will be given in this case.
Other times, the target may not be found at all.
Assuming the target is discovered, the player will only have a limited amount of time to take a shot, usually, this is about an hour.
Rank, Weapons, and Protection
Several factors, including Player Rank, Weapon Held, and Protection will influence how difficult a kill is.
Players of a higher rank will be more difficult to kill than lower ranked players since they'll have higher health and take more bullets to successfully eliminate.
Additionally, higher power weapons can be obtained from the Store for cash or gold. Higher Quality weapons will do considerably more damage and may require less bullets for a shot to be made. However, players must be at the appropriate KillSkill to obtain certain weapons.
Finally, players may also opt to purchase body armor from the Store as well. Body armor will mitigate a portion of the damage taken when shot at, the targeting player will also need more bullets to take a successful shot. No KillSkill level is required to purchase body armor, only the required price.
KillSkill
KillSkill is a leveled progression range from the all new Shooting Range feature. Players can practice taking shots there against live targets to hone in their Marksmanship.
Players who hit closest to the red bullseyes will receive more XP to level up their KillSkill.
KillSkill impacts kill in the following ways
- KillSkill leveling is required to purchase higher quality weapons
- Higher KillSkill reduces the amount of bullets necessary for a successful shot
To become more powerful in ChicagoRum, a high KillSkill is a must.
Taking the Shot
Assuming a search is successful, players will be presented with 3 options to shoot their opponent. All 3 will usually require hefty sums of bullets, but the lowest cost will have a lower chance of success than the highest tier option, which is nearly guaranteed.
[helpbox=info]No option will result in a guaranteed kill.[/helpbox]
Once a shot is made, considerable damage will be done to the player. They may even be killed.
[helpbox=warning]Firing a shot at less than 100% health will apply a penalty in the form of increased backfire shot back at you, which could result in unexpected outcomes.[/helpbox]
If the targeted player is killed a few Witness Statements will be generated and sent out to other players randomly. Witness Statements tell that player who exactly killed the target. This is not public information which is normally available, so witness statements are very valuable. They can be sold on the Marketplace for hefty sums of cash. When a player is successfully killed, their killer will receive 15% of their cash on hand and the opportunity to pick up their properties.
Players are also free to disclose this information without any sale or trade, but it should be taken with a grain of salt without the actual witness statement.
Backfire
Backfire is a feature which players may opt into on their edit Profile page.
If enabled when the player is shot, fire will automatically be returned, provided the player has enough bullets. The amount of bullets fired back depend on the amount initially fired, rank, weapon, and protection of both players.
[helpbox=warning]It is possible for players who shoot others to be killed in Backfire. [/helpbox]
No bullets will be fired in backfire if the player does not have a sufficient quantity.
Periods of Protection
Players are given periods of protection under certain circumstances. This means they cannot be searched for or shot while the protection is active.
Every new player is protected for 5 days unless the following conditions are met:
- Obtains over $20,000,000
- Obtains over 10,000 bullets
- Purchases or comes to own a Property
- Reaches the Local Boss Rank
- Starts a Search
- Joins a Crew
Players who are shot have a period of 30 minutes of protection if they survive.
[helpbox=warning]If a player initiates a search, their period of protection will automatically end, regardless of other factors.[/helpbox]
