Traveling

Wiki article

Need a change of scenery? Need to shift the focus of your criminal operations? Use the Train Station in Chicago Rum to travel between five different locations in-game. They are, Chicago, New York City, Miami, Detroit, and Atlantic City.

Now Available: Players can also use their cars to drive to new cities!

Traveling

On desktop, players can navigate to the Travel Page by clicking the city in the top right of the UI.

There are two options to travel in Chicago Rum, the train and driving a personal vehicle. Driving is usually much more expensive than taking the train.

Traveling by Train

This is the default and most economical mode of transportation. Players are able to purchase a ticket to any city for $500 at the time of travel. They'll instantly move to the city of choice. After traveling by train, players have a cool-down of 40 mins they'll have to wait through before traveling again.

Traveling by Car

Driving is a new mechanic introduced to Chicago Rum in Round 3. This enables players to use any of their vehicles from the Grand Theft Auto feature to drive to a different city.

When driving a car, players are also responsible for additional maintenance and gas costs. These are paid in the Travel Page at the time of travel.

Maintenance and Gas Costs increase depending on the tier of the vehicle, higher tier vehicles have much higher costs.

Higher tier vehicles will also have lower travel cool downs allowing players to travel more frequently. For the most up to date info on cooldowns, check the Cars Page. Travel speed is the amount of time a player will be required to wait before traveling again.

Vehicles which are damaged incur a penalty to the travel cooldown, increasing it in proportion to the level of damage. Below is a table showing the increases

Damage LevelSpeed Penalty
Damage 1-9+1 Minute
Damage At or Over 10+2 Minutes
Damage At or Over 20+3 Minutes
Damage At or Over 30+4 Minutes
Damage At or Over 40+5 Minutes
Damage of 50+10 Minutes

To drive a car, players can navigate to their Garage Page and select one of their vehicles.

In order to drive, vehicles must

  • Be in the same city as the player
  • Have a 1 star heat level

When traveling with a vehicle, it automatically changes location.

Transportation of Liquor

Alcohol may be transported to a new location either by driving or by taking the train, but players should be warned that either mode of transportation has a small chance of being caught by the police.

If caught, players may be sent to prison and have their alcohol seized by the police.

Control of Travel

Each week, a reputation competition is held on Chicago Rum for each city, it resets on Monday at midnight game time. Crews will compete by getting the most successful completions of Crimes, Burglaries, and Grand Theft Autos. Successful completions will award crews with Reputation Points.

Competitions are city wide.

The crew with the most Reputation points in their city will win Control of the Train Station for the following week and earn all revenue generated from ticket purchases and 60% of the revenue generated by vehicle maintenance and gasoline costs.
