Becoming an Advanced Player

This will be the final guide in our series and help players to bridge the gap and become more advanced in Chicago Rum, learning and understanding some of the higher level features.

Below will be the features covered in this guide.

  • Organized Crimes
  • Burglary Raids
  • Bullet Factories
  • Property Ownership
  • Kill

Organized Crime

Organized Crimes are a great way for more advanced players to get together and earn much higher rewards than normal. Both player xp and cash. Four players are required to start an organized crime.

Start or join an organized crime by navigating to the OC Main Page.

The mastermind of an Organized Crime is responsible for setting cut percentages. Its solely at the mastermind's discretion, but they should be fair to incentivize others to join.

There are 4 roles in an organized crime, they are:

  • Mastermind
  • Explosive Expert
  • Weapons Expert
  • Getaway Driver

Every role will be required to purchase equipment and contribute to the Organized Crime, more expensive equipment will raise chances of success and a higher grade of completion. The only role which doesn't need to purchase equipment is the Getaway Driver, they will contribute one of their GTA Cars. It will be returned on completion with some damage added.

After all players purchase their equipment and/or contribute a vehicle, the mastermind can start the Looting.

Looting is a 5 minute period where everyone in the OC can complete activities to boost the over all loot. These activities include things like breaking into a filing cabinet and even cracking the bank vault.

During looting, players are limited by Focus, which is a charged ability feature. Players start with and can bank up to 300 focus, it recharges at a constant rate of 10 per 10 seconds.

After the 5 minute period of looting, the Organized Crime will be attempted.

Players will be able to see the outcome and other detailed OC statistics in their Rap Sheet.

Multiple successful OC completions in a row will award a spree bonus, this will increase rewards by up to 25%!

Burglary Raids

Periodically throughout the day, there will be a truck which stops in one of the five cities in Chicago Rum. This truck often carries a substantial sum of valuable goods, including Gold, high amounts of Cash, and sometimes bullets. Players can check if a truck is stopped or will be stopping soon in the Burglary Page.

There is only a short window that the truck stops, players can only make attempts in that time frame. In order to attempt a Burglary Raid, players must be in the same city as the truck. Burglary raid attempts do not use Nerve like a normal burglary would, but there may be a timed cooldown period.

Bullet Factories

Bullets are the currency which is necessary to kill other players. They are predominantly produced by Bullet Factories, but may be obtained through a select few other means such as purchasing them on the marketplace or using a Gold Buff.

Currently, Bullet Factories are owned by the Admin team exclusively. The factories have a constant production rate of 800 bullets produced every hour and sell for $450 each. If all 800 bullets are not purchased by the time new bullets are produced, they will be held in the stockpile and can still be purchased at anytime for the same price.

Property Ownership

One of the hallmark characteristics of an advanced player is being able to generate large sums of money to stockpile. Property ownership is one of the best ways to do this, though it should be noted that this is an inherently risky venture.

Each city has 5 casinos which are player owned. At the beginning of a round, these are available to purchase by any player by going to the Cities Page and paying the required price. They usually begin at several million dollars. These properties can also be obtained mid round too in a few different ways. The most common way is through purchasing directly through the owner. In the property management screen, owners can list their casino for sale for any price and they can also choose to accept offers. Additionally, private deals can be arranged via Escrow.

Casinos are considered especially risky to own due to the owner being required to have enough cash on hand to cover all bets. If they fail to do so, the owner will become bankrupted and ownership of the casino will be transferred to the player who made the winning bet. This is also commonly known as breaking a casino and is one of the more common ways of establishing property ownership. With high risk comes high reward. Owners will receive 100% of the revenue generated at their casinos without any taxes or fees.

To mitigate potential risk, property owners may decide to set a max bet at their casino in the property management screen. This will limit the amount a player can bet at any one time, but its important to note that it doesn't limit the number of bets a player can make. Also important to consider, players who are gambling also want to make it big, setting max bets too low may cause players to gamble elsewhere, causing owners to lose money.

Owners are able to see major statistics relating to their property in the property management screen. They're able to track their total earnings, bets placed in the last day, week, and all time, and the number of unique patrons.

Kill

Chicago Rum has a unique system of PvP which allows for players to eliminate their enemies. Once a player has made the decision to deal with their enemy, a search must be initiated in the kill page. Searches are often very expensive for all but the most established players.

There are 4 private investigators available for hire ranging in price and time. More expensive private investigators may find the target much faster than those with a cheaper fee.

A search is not necessarily a guarantee that the targeted player will be found. The player has a chance of noticing a private investigator on their tail, causing the search to be called off. If a search is called off for that reason, no refund will be issued. The targeted player would then be notified of the investigator, causing them to be alerted.

Assuming a search is successful, the player will have a limited period of time to strike at their target. There will be 3 options available with varying chances of success. Players must use bullets to kill their target. More expensive options have a higher chance of success.

The cost in bullets it takes to eliminate a player is determined by the following factors

  • The Targeting Player's Rank
  • The Targeting Player's Weapon
  • The Targeted Player's Rank
  • The Targeted Player's Protection

It is a prudent choice to invest in good protection and a good weapon to maximize survival chances. These items can be purchased from the Store Page.

Just because a player is targeted, does not mean they will necessarily go down without a fight. There is a feature called Backfire which can be enabled or disabled in Profile Settings. If backfire is enabled for a player who is attacked, provided that player has a sufficient quantity of bullets, they will return fire at their attacker, potentially killing them in the process. Just like kill, backfire is also impacted by the aforementioned factors.

Upon death, a player will lose almost all of their items, properties, rank, and currencies, except for gold. Gold is maintained on death. Players must choose a new name, will start out from the rank of Crook, and may also transfer their profile customization. Their join date will also be maintained, unless the Underground option is selected, which will change their join date to the date their new account is created.

All new players will have a period of protection that lasts a few days. Protection will be removed if a player earns more than $$$. Additionally, players who have just been shot will also be granted a period of protection if they survive.
